Big 12 Softball Champions

Tiger softball to host WCWS Regional

Columbia, MO- Outright Big 12 Champions.  It has a nice ring to it.  The University of Missouri softball team, led by redshirt sophomore ace pitcher Chelsea Thomas have won their first conference title since 1997, and have done it in superb fashion.  After scoring 16 runs in two games against Iowa State, the Tigers did their part.  It was up to Texas to lose to Baylor for Mizzou to have the outright title.  Baylor upset the Longhorns 2-1, which allowed Missouri to no longer have a "share" of the regular season title, but instead, can be greedy and say it's all for themselves.  The Tigers finish the season at 15-3 in conference play (Texas went 14-4) and 46-7 overall record.

Mizzou enters the NCAA Women's College World Series (WCWS) as the 5th seed overall, and will play host to a regional that includes Illinois State, Indiana and DePaul.  Missouri will face Illinois State on Friday, 5/20 at 6:30p, and whomever wins that game will face the winner of Indiana vs DePaul on Saturday at noon.  If Missouri wins their regional, they will host a super regional at University Field.
